The constellation of Pisces, the Fishes

Pisces horoscope today

The Fishes, 19 February to 20 March · Water, mutable, ruled by Neptune, and Jupiter before it

The sky Moon in Taurus all day · waning gibbous, 97% lit · Mercury retrograde, Venus retrograde, Saturn retrograde. Last quarter on Sunday at 8.28pm, five days away.

Old photographs and a canal path

Easier than you may expect, this one. Practical jobs go smoothly if you start them early, and the quieter hours later belong to you, to spend as slowly as you like.

Love

An older relative, a grandmother or a great-uncle, may be glad of a visit or a long phone call this week. Ask about the people in the old photographs, the ones whose names only they still know. You listen better than most, and they may tell you something no one has asked them about in years.

Work and money

The invoice you meant to send, the timesheet, the expenses from September: numbers are not your favourite part of the job, but they pay for the parts you love. Do them first thing, headphones on, something without words playing. By ten they can be gone, and the rest of the morning is clear.

Body and mind

Find water this afternoon, if you can: a canal path, the river, even a fountain in a square. Walk beside it for half an hour and let your thoughts move at its pace. You are allowed to come home, close the door and keep the evening entirely to yourself.

If you read nothing else

Send the invoice first, then go and find the water

And tomorrow, Wednesday 28 October

Legs up the wall, lights low. Still bright but past its fullest, the Moon is on the wane, and Wednesday has a slightly worn edge to it: lots of talk, not much rest.

What Pisces is like

Pisces takes in more than it can comfortably hold. It picks up the mood of a room, the thing a friend is not saying, the tone under the polite email. That makes it kind, forgiving and unusually good company, and it also means a crowded day leaves it flat for reasons it cannot itemise.

It is the least literal of the twelve, which is where the art and the escape both come from. A Pisces needs a way out that is not avoidance: music, water, a walk, a page. Its lifelong work is the boundary — knowing where it ends and the other person begins, and being allowed to say no without a written justification.

Pisces in love

Romantic, devoted and inclined to see the best version of someone before they have earned it. Pisces gives easily and forgives faster than is wise. It is happiest with a partner who is straightforward, because it will fill any silence with a story, usually one in which it is at fault.

Pisces at work

It works from feel, and it is often right. Pisces belongs where imagination is the product: art, care, writing, therapy, anything where reading people matters more than reading spreadsheets. Deadlines and admin are the friction, and a structure somebody else built is a kindness rather than an insult.

Who Pisces gets on with

  • Cancer: Understood without having to translate it first.
  • Scorpio: Depth met with depth, which is a relief for both.
  • Taurus: Taurus builds the shore Pisces can swim back to.

Gemini and Sagittarius are quick and literal in a way that leaves Pisces feeling slightly unheard.
