Week of
The week’s sky 26/10: full moon at 4.12am, in Taurus. 1/11: last quarter at 8.28pm, in Leo.
Twelve drills and one shed
Twelve electric drills live on your street, by your count, each used for about eleven minutes a year. The idea is simple: one shed, yours, at the end of the garden, one notebook, everything shared. On Monday, put a note through every door. Replies may trickle in midweek, by email, by text, one on the back of a takeaway menu. On Saturday, gather the interested in a front garden. On Sunday, lend out the first drill and write it in the book.
Love
Neighbours you know well may sign up at once; the ones you only nod to may take longer, and they are the point. On Saturday, learn the names of the couple at number nine. Among friends, someone you have not seen since the summer has sent a message; reply this week with a date, not a promise. A shed for the whole street is easier to arrange than one coffee, and the coffee matters.
Work and money
Thursday’s meeting is about next year, and you may arrive with three ideas. Bring one: the best, on a single sheet, with what it costs and who would run it. Keep the other two in your pocket until someone asks what else you have. An idea with a price beside it gets discussed; three without one get admired and shelved.
Body and mind
Organising a street is mostly doorsteps and a phone that will not stop buzzing, so leave yours in another room after nine. The shed itself may need emptying first, a job for daylight and old clothes; evict the spiders with more courtesy than they deserve. On Sunday evening, read a novel set as far from any street as possible.
