Eleven years, three days, one spare bed
Your oldest friend, the one who moved to Canada eleven years ago, is back for a few days and asks, on Monday, to stay with you from Friday. The rest of the week arranges itself around that. Midweek you may make up the spare bed twice and wonder whether you still have anything to say to each other. Early on Friday the Moon moves into your sign, and by midnight the two of you could be on the sofa, laughing at something from twenty years ago.
Love
Whoever you live with will share a bathroom with a near-stranger for three days, and may feel outside the jokes. Bring them in. Tell your friend one good story about them before they meet, and on Saturday leave the two of them together for an hour while you fetch the bread. If you live alone, ask the question that has waited eleven years for the right evening.
Work and money
A decision made last winter is being quietly reversed, and February’s minutes, reasons and all, are still in your folder. In Tuesday’s meeting, explain once why it was made, giving the reason and none of the names. If the room still goes the other way, put the reason in an email so it is on file, then do the new thing properly. Book Friday afternoon off now, while the diary is still empty.
Body and mind
Hosting someone you love is tiring in a way that may only show on Sunday night. Shop on Thursday so that Friday is not a dash, and make one big dish that reheats, a lasagne or a stew. Talking until two is worth it, so bank an early night on Wednesday. When your friend leaves, open the windows, put the spare duvet away and sit for an hour with no one to look after.
Friday, for opening the door to someone who knew you at nineteen
