A dragon made of cardboard
Halloween falls on Saturday, and a small person in your life announces on Monday that they will be a dragon, a proper one, with wings that move. They have asked you, specifically, to make it. Tuesday is for cardboard and a plan. Wednesday and Thursday are glue, green paint and a wing that keeps falling off. Saturday is the street at dusk. Early on Sunday the Moon moves into your sign, a good morning to look through the photographs and feel quietly magnificent.
Love
Let the child help, badly: the painting, the scales, the part that ends up crooked. They may remember who made the wings long after the sweets are gone. If your partner offers to take over the fiddly bit, say yes; a dragon has room for two names. With no child to hand, answer your own door on Saturday, with the good chocolate, not the cheap kind.
Work and money
On Wednesday a visiting client is to be shown round, and you have been asked to do the showing. You are good at this. Do it better by stopping at two desks and introducing the people there by what they do best, in a sentence each. The client remembers a team; your colleagues remember who said it out loud.
Body and mind
Glue guns, late nights and a floor covered in cardboard can leave your back stiff by Thursday. Work at the table, not crouched on the floor, and stop at ten whatever state the left wing is in. On Saturday, walk the whole route with the dragon instead of waiting at the gate; the cold air and the steps will do you good.
